Trip to Britanny - May 2007
"Nine went to Brittany"
At
midday on Monday 7th May 2007 we set off in glorious spring weather to catch
the overnight crossing from Portsmouth to St. Malo.
After breakfast on board we headed South-West, stopping at Mur De Bretagne
for coffee and then a picnic lunch at Abbeye De Bon Repos. We arrived in
Quimper at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday. After unpacking and resting or walking we
met for dinner at a crêperie,
sampling the local cider and vin.
On
Wednesday we had a scenic drive to Concarneau; morning coffee, in the sun
(20°), in the old town.
After a leisurely lunch we met up for the ride back via Rosporden, with its
pond and some very big geese. A very convivial evening was spent at LaVillaF
near the Note Dame, where the owner kept us amused and well fed.
Thursday morning at "leisure" in Quimper, then a short drive to Locronan to
see this "petitcite" / village. After lunch on to Douarnenez so the
"children" could paddle in the sea, and afterwards see the boat museum.
Another lovely dinner was had at a very busy popular local restaurant.
On
Friday we started back at 10:00 a.m. First call was at the Carrefour for
"Club Refreshments". Our lunch was at Josselin, afternoon tea at Caen and
then on to Ouistreham for Dinner and the overnight crossing back to
Portsmouth.
We
landed back at 7:00 a.m., coffee near Oxford and the first drop off at 11:15
a.m. All safely home by 12:30 p.m.
