Samedi le 19 Juillet 2008 - En Plein Air - Le
Barbecue et le Championnat de Boules
This was held on a dry, sunny but very cold evening - with fewer members and
friends than usual.
The games were played well - and those waiting were able to enjoy hot food
straight from our Barbecue - cooked by Ian Edmunds and Ian Willgoose (Tony
and Barbara Fenwick’s sons in law).
The cup was won by M. Malcolm Holden and Mme. Sheila Smith. Runners up were
M. David Swain and Mme. Brenda Hooper.
The plate competition was won by Mme. Linda Walshe and M. Brian Rhodes.
Runners up were Mme. Josie Dyche and M. Arthur Lomax.
Vendredi, le 19 Septembre 2008 - Région de
France sur DVD
Regions of France will be on our ‘big screen’- and it is hoped that members
who have French holiday photographs on DVD will bring them and be pleased to
talk about the scenes as they are shown on screen.
The supper will be a charcuterie and salad at £4.00 per head.
If you wish, bring your own wine; otherwise it will be available at 50 pence
per glass.
A raffle will be held as normal.
As it is the start of our new financial year - payment of annual
subscriptions at £7.50 per person will be appreciated as soon as possible.
Vendredi, Le 17 October 2008 - ‘Quiz des
Vins’
M. Gerry Alger will be our host for the evening.
Films
The French film season will begin on Saturday 20th September 2008
- with the screening of ‘Le Retour de Martin Guerre’. This is based on a
true story from 16th century France about a husband who returns from the war
after an eight-year absence. Relatives (but not his wife) claim he is an
impostor. Stars Gérard Depardieu and Nathalie Baye. Technicolour. French
with English sub-titles.
Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the film will commence at 7:15 p.m. Cost will be
£2.00, including coffee and biscuits.
The next Committee meeting will be at The Priory Centre, Saturday 20th
September 2008 at 5:00 p.m. - bring sandwiches if required.
