Avril 2008

Vendredi, le 15 Février Galettes et Accordéonistes

Members present enjoyed this evening with the usual enthusiasm of cooking the crêpes and galettes and coating with many extremely interesting and tasty fillings.

This year we had the additional pleasure of the Accordéonistes - whom most members had heard before at the Christmas meeting. They played before and during the meal - all very enjoyable.

Samedi, le 15 Mars                            Dîner Annuel

This was to have taken place at Chloes in Burton, but due to unforeseen circumstances was cancelled at very short notice by Chloes; and eventually booked at The International Hotel in Derby.

The consensus of opinion - it was a very good evening.

Vendredi, le 18 Avril                          Quiz Night - “The Intellectuals” - John Hooper

The original speaker for the evening has emigrated to America; therefore the subject matter for the evening has been changed!

We will have a Quiz Night - loosely based on “The Eggheads Show” from Television.

“The Intellectuals” quiz has been prepared by John and will be presented on PowerPoint slides. The subjects will be History, Geography, Food & Drink and General Knowledge. There will be 48 questions all based on France and members will be in teams of four.

Cost for the evening will be £4.00 per person. Wine will be available at 50 pence per glass if you do not wish to bring your own. The supper will be cheeses. A raffle will be held.

Vendredi, le 16 May                          Assemblée Général Annuel - et La France Médiévale.

Following the business matter of the evening, we will be very pleased to welcome M. Phil Ogden who will talk about La France Médiévale.

At the AGM - Members up for re-election are David Swain (Chairman), Gerald Lomas (Vice Chairman), Malcolm Holden (Secretary), Joan Holden (Committee), Tony Fenwick (Committee).

Denis Scattergood, (Treasurer), wishes to retire and nominations would be appreciated.

Film shows at The Priory Centre, 7:00 pm. for 7:15 p.m.:-

Samedi le 19 Avril - Le Château de Ma Mère - French with English sub-titles

Samedi le 17 Mai - to be decided.
